Student Nurse Aide

Under the direction of the registered nurse, the purpose of this position is to provide holistic care for patients and families served.
Qualifications
License / Certification Required : BLS Preferred : Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification
Education Required : Current enrollment in an accredited RN program with successful completion of at least one semester.
Employee must submit updated transcript to HR each term and notify Manager and HR of any changes in nursing program enrollment.
Work Study course is required only if the nursing student is seeking course credit for the learning experience or during the summer if their nursing program is not in session.
Job Responsibilities
The Student Nurse Aide (SNA) is responsible for having the college / university's student skills competency checklist available at all times while working as a SNA. School checklist duties may only be performed when school is in session and only after skills have been validated by the school of Nursing in conjunction with the KH RN preceptor. PLEASE NOTE : Performance of skills and duties identified on the college / university skills checklist that are strictly prohibited include, but are not limited to the following : IV initiation and therapy, medication administration, obtaining and processing of physician orders, glucose monitoring, all Point of Care (POC) testing, and similar procedures. The SNA may continuously perform (including non-instructional days) the following duties upon completion of Kaweah Health position / unit specific competencies.
Addendum (essential for specific dept) PEDIATRICS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR :
Performs Unit Secretary duties for the unit.
OBSTETRICS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR :
May stock IV fluids and Irrigation fluids in locked supply drawers on mother / baby unit.
Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient / family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range $20.38 -$20.38
