Position Summary
The Process Safety Advisor will serve as a champion and leader of process safety excellence across operations. This role focuses on embedding a strong safety culture through targeted training, field engagement, structured risk analysis, and leadership coaching. The ideal candidate is a dynamic communicator with deep technical knowledge in process safety principles and applications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Process Safety Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in the process safety field
- Experience within the petrochemical industry and familiarity with regulatory requirements
- Preferred : Proficiency with consequence modeling tools (e.g., PHAST)
Key Responsibilities
Training & Development
Design and deliver engaging training materials for in-person and computer-based (CBT) platformsFacilitate process safety training for Operations personnel across all shifts, including field and control room staffConduct tailored training sessions for Maintenance teams focused on hazard scenarios and safeguard awarenessProvide ongoing training and communication support for Engineering and Project teamsSupport and train Critical Safeguard (CSG) owners to ensure clear understanding of roles and expectationsDevelop and deliver leadership-focused training modules to strengthen process safety ownershipFacilitate leadership workshops and one-on-one coaching to enhance safety communication and engagementRisk Management & Technical Safety
Perform risk screening for new or modified processes, projects, and operational changesLead or support structured risk assessments (e.g., Scenario-Based, What-If, Checklist, LOPA, Bowtie)Actively participate in HAZOP studies, providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with standardsCollaborate with Engineering and Project teams to integrate risk mitigation strategies into design and execution phasesField Engagement & Communication
Develop and deploy field-facing safety materials (e.g., posters, bowtie visuals, digital signage, branded collateral)Ensure consistent and visible process safety messaging aligned with PSMS and field initiativesLead field walks and coaching sessions with site leadership to promote hazard recognition and active safety engagementAdditional Information
