The RN plays a key role in supporting patient assessments, clinical procedures, education, and care coordination within the scope of NJ nursing practice.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a non-exempt clinical role responsible for delivering high-quality primary nursing care in an outpatient infectious disease setting. This includes assessments, care planning, patient teaching, documentation, medication administration, and support of clinic operations. The RN practices within the guidelines of the New Jersey Board of Nursing.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment & Intake
  • Obtain and verify patient health history; gather relevant data through physical assessments.

  • Document all visit details in the EMR, including medications, allergies, and clinical history.
  • Collect specimens for laboratory testing and process refills per provider direction.
  • Treatment & Clinical Care
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments; monitor and document patient response.

  • Provide patient and family education on health status, treatment plans, and chronic condition management.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and confidentiality policies.
  • Documentation & Recordkeeping
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, education, medications, and lab / test results.

  • Ensure timely and compliant EMR documentation.
  • Patient Education & Wellness Support
  • Provide educational materials and reinforce physician instructions.

  • Offer health counseling, supportive care, and teaching to patients and families.
  • Clinic & Environmental Support
  • Set up exam / treatment rooms and equipment following clinic protocols.

  • Clean rooms and equipment between patients; maintain stock and supplies.
  • Assist with environmental and operational tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Clinical Procedures
  • Prepare patients for exams; administer medications (including injections).

  • Apply dressings, manage biohazard waste, perform venipuncture, CLIA-waived testing, and lab procedures per OSHA guidelines.
  • Verify prescriptions with physician orders.
  • Other Duties
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.

    Education & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) —graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience (clinic experience preferred).
  • Current New Jersey RN license .
  • Current BLS certification .
  • Current health records and immunizations per ID Care Employee Health Policy.

  • Equipment Used

  • Medical exam equipment : BP monitors, thermometers, AED, pulse oximeters, syringes, oxygen, Abbott ID NOW COVID instrument.
  • Office equipment : computers, printers, fax machines, scanners.
  • Work Environment

  • Medical office and exam / treatment room setting with controlled lighting and temperature.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other clinical risks.
  • Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, grasping, and patient interaction.
  • Occasional patient lifting or assisting with transfers (with or without assistance).
  • Ability to manage fast-paced clinical scenarios requiring focus, communication, and decision-making.
