Job role : Head of Digital Products, Data, and Enterprise Architecture

Duration : 1-2 months for steady handoff could extend

Location : NY would like local to be onsite (on 11 / 20 being fully remote due to office move) mostly remote

Role Summary

The Head of Digital Products, Data, and Enterprise Architecture is a senior technology and business leader responsible for driving client digital transformation. This role unifies digital product delivery, enterprise data strategy, and architectural governance to ensure that client technology ecosystem is cohesive, scalable, and future-ready.

This leader plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering a connected, intelligent digital environment that supports business growth, operational agility, and innovation. They bring together digital product excellence, data-driven insights via AI, and strong architectural principles to build a resilient and adaptive foundation for client continued transformation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Product Strategy and Delivery Transformation

  • Define and execute client digital product roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and strategic goals.
  • Lead the digital delivery transformation, embedding agile methodologies, DevOps, product ownership discipline, and outcome-driven delivery practices.
  • Build cross-functional product teams that bring together product management, engineering, design, and data expertise.
  • Foster a culture of product and delivery excellence, emphasizing innovation, transparency, and measurable business impact.
  • Promote continuous improvement through agile metrics, retrospectives, and iterative delivery cycles.

2. Enterprise Data Strategy and Analytics Enablement

  • Drive and contribute to client enterprise data strategy, ensuring a cohesive, data-rich foundation that enables advanced analytics and insight generation.
  • Oversee modernization of the data platform architecture using modern, cloud-based solutions to enhance scalability, accessibility, and governance.
  • Establish and enforce data management frameworks that promote data quality, integrity, and consistent usage across the enterprise.
  • Partner with business leaders to leverage data for strategic decision-making, operational optimization, and growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to and deliver an AI ready data foundation
  • Lead data lakehouse and medallion architecture implementation, supporting templated, reusable data pipelines and well-governed data estates.

    • 3. Enterprise Architecture Leadership

  • Lead the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function, ensuring alignment between Ambac's business strategy, digital initiatives, and underlying technology landscape.
  • Define Ambac's target-state architecture, including principles for systems design, integration, data management, and cloud adoption.
  • Oversee architecture governance to ensure that technology investments align with enterprise standards and scalability requirements.
  • Reduce complexity and technical debt by guiding modernization efforts and promoting reuse of shared technology capabilities.
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies to keep Ambac's architecture innovative, secure, and adaptable.
  • Provide architectural leadership in event-driven and serverless systems, ensuring robust, scalable, and decoupled solution design.

    • 4. AI and Automation Innovation

  • Contribute to Ambac's AI innovation, which includes setting the vision and execution strategy for applying artificial intelligence and automation across the enterprise.
  • Identify and operationalize AI use cases that improve efficiency, decision quality, and customer experience.
  • Promote responsible AI adoption and build enterprise awareness of AI capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate AI solutions into digital products, data platforms, and workflows.

    • 5. Product Innovation and Commercialization

  • Identify and develop opportunities for digital and data-enabled product innovation that enhance Ambac's value proposition or operational capabilities.
  • Lead ideation and experimentation efforts that explore new solutions, automation opportunities, and technology-driven efficiencies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across all technology and product teams.

    • 6. Talent and Capability Development

  • Build, mentor, and retain top digital, data, and architectural talent, fostering an environment where curiosity, accountability, and innovation thrive.
  • Create career paths and development frameworks that build deep expertise in product management, data engineering, analytics, and architecture.
  • Champion diversity of thought and skill, ensuring teams are empowered to challenge norms and experiment responsibly.
  • Establish internal learning programs, certifications, and rotational opportunities to continuously elevate Ambac's digital and data literacy.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning across all disciplines within the technology organization.

    • 7. Leadership, Culture, and Collaboration

  • Build and lead a high-performing organization that integrates product, data, and architecture disciplines.
  • Collaborate with executive and business leadership to align technology investments with enterprise strategy.
  • Serve as a bridge between strategic vision and operational execution, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable value.
  • Represent Ambac as a digital transformation leader, contributing to internal and external technology thought leadership.

    • Technical Competencies

  • Deep understanding of modern cloud and data architectures, including event-driven and serverless designs.
  • Experience with event streaming technologies, preferably Azure Event Hubs or equivalent.
  • Professional experience with Azure Functions and serverless computing architectures.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, including build and release pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO) and effective use of ADO Boards for agile delivery tracking.
  • Comfort with Python, with the ability to review and approve pull requests, identify code-level risks, and ensure quality and maintainability.
  • Knowledge of data lakehouse and medallion architecture frameworks, including templated pipeline patterns for scalable data estates.
  • Strong grasp of security, scalability, and maintainability principles across digital and data platforms.

    • Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in digital product management, enterprise architecture, and data strategy within insurance, financial services, or technology industries.
  • Demonstrated success driving digital and agile transformation across complex organizations.
  • Strong technical understanding of data platforms, integration patterns, Azure and cloud-native ecosystems.
  • Proven experience with AI, automation, and emerging technologies to enable business transformation.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
