Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care within a skilled nursing facility environment. Working under the direction of the Charge Nurse, the RN is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to residents while ensuring adherence to established nursing standards and facility protocols. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to supervise LVNs and support staff effectively.
Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
Administer nursing care using proper clinical procedures and maintain a professional, courteous approach at all times.Demonstrate professional behavior both on and off duty as a facility representative.Collaborate effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organization.Maintain strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.Utilize Microsoft Office and standard office equipment to complete documentation and job functions.Maintain accurate, organized records and complete tasks with attention to detail.Communicate clearly with directors, managers, coworkers, and patients.Participate in meetings, in-services, and ongoing training as required.Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct timely, individualized patient assessments based on the patient’s immediate condition.Notify physicians of abnormal findings and perform ongoing assessments per facility protocols.Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.Administer treatments and medications accurately and in a timely manner.Provide patient and family education as needed.Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly and accurately.Initiate emergency protocols (e.g., CPR) according to established guidelines.Maintain infection control and patient safety standards.Assist nursing staff across departments when qualified and needed.Ensure accurate narcotic control and legally complete documentation.Supervise LVNs and non-licensed staff, provide work assignments, and serve as a resource.Maintain competence in basic arrhythmia interpretation.Care for outpatients requiring blood transfusions according to policy.Coordinate smooth patient transfers for tests or procedures.Professional Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.Active California RN license in good standing.Current CPR certification (ACLS preferred if required by setting).Demonstrates ethical behavior aligned with organizational mission and values.Able to work beyond standard hours as needed.Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and walk intermittently throughout the shift.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Must work independently with flexibility and strong personal integrity.Specialty
