We are in the process of hiring a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Information Technology industry located in SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. The role offers a short term contract employment opportunity and requires a highly organized individual with a keen eye for detail. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be tasked with managing payroll activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and developing systems to streamline processes.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and related operations for the company's employees.
- Manage all payroll activities including processing new employees, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
- Maintain and update payroll records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and submit reports on payroll to the appropriate department for record keeping.
- Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments to facilitate smooth payroll operations.
- Stay updated with changes in benefit and tax laws to ensure compliance and update the payroll system accordingly.
- Handle filing and maintenance of all payroll-related documents to ensure organized record keeping.
- Issue statements detailing earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages on a regular basis.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of payroll software, preferably Full Cycle Payroll.
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes and employment regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent numeracy and data entry skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Information Technology systems used in payroll processing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding payroll information.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
