American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Emergency Department assignment in Illinois, requiring active IL licensure and multiple advanced certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position based in a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department in an acute care hospital65-bed ER with two trauma bays, serving all ages from newborns to elderlyNurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 3 to 1 : 5 depending on acuityCare for patients with a wide variety of complaints, including critical and cardiac cases, stroke, and traumaTravelers may care for trauma patients once stabilized and transferred to a pod, but are not primary nurses in the trauma bayRequires competency in managing and titrating vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive dripsUses Phillips telemetry monitors and Epic EMR; orientation to devices provided12-hour shifts scheduled by management, with every other weekend required and potential for block schedulingFloating is rare but may occur, typically as a help-all rather than taking a full assignment on another unitNo on-call requirement for travelersScrubs should be tasteful, with any solid colored shirts permitted underneathResponsibilities include triage, stabilization, and ongoing care of a full spectrum of emergency patientsER team includes attending physicians, charge nurses, ED techs, and a house supervisor available 24 / 7Support available from respiratory therapy for advanced equipment and from monitor techs for rhythm monitoringTravelers scheduled according to department needs; time-off requests consideredHoliday coverage is required every other holiday, negotiable based on contractCOVID vaccination is not required for this assignmentLocal candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a local pay rate\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license required at the time of considerationCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNS requiredMinimum two years of ER nursing experience requiredAt least one prior travel assignment preferredProficiency with vasopressor and cardiac drip titration requiredExperience in teaching hospitals and with SANE cases preferredAbility to interpret and act on cardiac rhythms requiredEpic EMR experience preferred\n Benefits\n
