Job description

Overview

Up to 3 Early Intervention is hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. The Up to 3 Early Intervention program is a pediatric program, which strives to provide quality, evidence-based therapy services in a nurturing & supportive natural environment. Services are provided through a combination of home and tele-health parent-coaching sessions.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and committed Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary teams comprised of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior analysts, child development specialists, behavior technicians, vision, and hearing therapists, as well as autism specialists.

This is an hourly, non-benefited, position that will work between 25 to 29 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Administer assessments to inform eligibility and treatment for early intervention referrals.
  • Develop individualized service plans as part of a child’s team.
  • Provide 1 : 1 therapy in the natural environment (often in the child’s home) focusing on child’s occupations of playing, eating, sleeping, bathing / self-care, and socialization.
  • Use knowledge of activity analysis, environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, education, and mental and physical health to address child needs in family routines.
  • Provide family centered, culturally sensitive, parent training from evidence-based treatment strategies focusing on family’s capacity and resources as well as routines.

Provide parent education and coaching on developmental strategies regarding :

  • Feeding, swallowing, Dysphagia in children.
  • Low- and high-tech Assistive technology and AAC for feeding, accessing environment, communication, and positioning.
  • Fine motor and adaptive development.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as needed / requested to ensure quality of care.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must have valid Utah Occupational Therapy license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Maintenance of appropriate professional affiliation(s) needed to supervise undergraduate and graduate students during practicum, student teaching, and internships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of typical development.
  • Experience and familiarity with assessments such as PDMS, Sensory Motor Profile, and other developmental criterion reference checklists.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation to visit clients' homes, as needed, and knowledge of technology to provide virtual coaching.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous pediatric treatment experience.
  • Multilingual ability.
  • Baby Watch Early Intervention Credential.

    This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 20 pounds, walking, bending, squatting, pushing, stooping, and pulling to provide services. Employees must be able to get up and down from floor level to work with children on the floor.

    The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
