We are looking for a skilled Grant Accountant to join our team in Langley, Washington. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing government grants, ensuring compliance, and improving processes for tracking spending and reporting. Responsibilities :
- Conduct detailed reviews of 3-4 government grants to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Develop and implement improved processes for tracking spending and reporting on grant-related activities.
- Analyze construction-related grants to identify and resolve issues, including prevailing wages and work order complications.
- Collaborate with project sponsors, contracts teams, and project management teams to streamline grant administration.
- Prepare and organize documentation for audits, including early audits and year-end financial reviews.
- Address challenges related to cost collection, capitalization, and charge-offs to optimize grant management.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing tracking systems and procedures to align with government standards.
- Work onsite during the initial month to familiarize yourself with the organization and transition to a hybrid schedule thereafter.
- Assist in resolving historical grant issues and ensuring timely submission of reports to relevant government entities.
- Support the preparation for major deadlines, including audit submissions and compliance reporting.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant accounting or financial management.
- Strong knowledge of federal government grants and associated compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Excel and telecom NISC systems.
- Familiarity with construction-related grants and processes, including engineering and bidding phases.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable recommendations to improve tracking and reporting.
- Understanding of cost collection, capitalization, and charge-off processes.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple grants and deadlines effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including contracts and project management teams.
