Searching for a PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT- this is a 18 month contract role ONLY!
Monday-Friday 9 / 80 schedule with every other Friday off
Pay rate : $35.00 / hr
Job Responsibilities :
1. Help ensure compliance with 30 types of compensation and 22 separate employee benefits for 12 groups of employees / elected official / retirees / planning commissioners (ex. CalPERS eligibility, MOU rules, accruals and timekeeping)
2. Audit, as needed, over 5,000 payroll personnel actions / yr to verify accuracy and compliance with city, state and federal rules (bi-weekly requirement)
3. Manage full Payroll process from start to finish biweekly, including, but not limited to, timekeeping, accruals, processing, testing, audits, uploads to Finance system, vendor payments, and garnishments
4. Assist employees, elected officials, and managers with complex, confidential and sensitive payroll issues and serve as finance liaison to all HCMS / Payroll issues
5. Review / respond to Public Record Act requests that come to Payroll
6. Perform HRIS / payroll system maintenance related to payroll and timekeeping, including large scale changes at year-end and following labor negotiations
7. Help manage annual W2 process, including creating file, audit entries, edit as necessary, submit to third party vendor for printing, and submitting file to IRS
