Associate Director Automation Engineer - Process Automation Biologics Drug Substance

About the Role and the Organization

We're partnered with a leading pharmaceutical company that is discovering and bringing life-changing medicines to patients across the world. They are seeking an Associate Director of Automation Engineering for Process Automation to support their ongoing biologics drug substance development. This role will lead a large group of automation engineers and lead at the intersection of process development, manufacturing, and automation.

Job Responsibilities

• Recruit, mentor, and manage automation engineers and technicians, ensuring career development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Direct daily operations and project execution within the automation group, including pilot plant and associated process development labs.
• Oversee automation documentation and activities to meet data integrity, cGMP, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), and quality system requirements.
• Serve as a liaison between engineering, technical, and cross-functional teams to align automation initiatives and drive innovation.
• Allocate personnel for new projects, manage contract staff, and control budgets to support operational efficiency and strategic objectives.
