Job Summary

Support the growth and profitability of the organization by applying sound underwriting judgment to evaluate insurance risks, primarily within the life and disability space. This role involves developing strong relationships with internal and external partners, mentoring team members, and contributing to strategic projects. Underwriters are expected to advance through training, hands-on experience, and demonstrated leadership.

  • Analyze and underwrite insurance risks in the 10999 life range; may flex to 1,0004,999 as needed
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with field personnel, producers, and policyholders
  • Provide mentoring and training to team members based on experience level
  • Participate in special projects aligned with corporate goals

Skills and Background You'll Need

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Employee Benefits underwriting (life and disability)
  • Must-Haves

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Proven customer service and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience mentoring and identifying training needs
  • Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Comfortable evaluating complex cases and recommending process improvements
  • May be asked to flex into larger case underwriting as needed

  • The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

    Salary Range : $74,500.00 - $108,750.00
