As part of the A. Stucki Company family, Wheelworx plays a key role in keeping the rail industry rolling by reconditioning railcar wheels and axles used throughout North America. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician with expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems. As a key member of our maintenance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience and a proven track record of delivering top-notch maintenance solutions.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Electrical Maintenance : Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including but not limited to electrical panels, circuits, motors, controls, and instrumentation.
- Mechanical Maintenance : Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, gearboxes, and hydraulic / pneumatic systems.
- Equipment Inspection : Regularly inspect machinery and equipment to identify potential issues, abnormalities, or safety hazards. Propose and implement solutions to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
- Emergency Repairs : Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies promptly, using sound judgment and technical expertise to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, including work orders, equipment manuals, and relevant documentation for compliance and historical reference.
- Preventive Maintenance Program : Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to increase the longevity and reliability of equipment.
- Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices during maintenance activities. Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the enhancement of the overall safety culture.
- Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements. Propose innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.
- Machine Upgrades and Modifications : Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment. Recommend modifications to existing machinery to improve functionality and productivity.
- Collaboration : Work closely with production and engineering teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, provide technical support, and ensure a smooth workflow.
Skills / Experience Requirements :
5+ years of experience as a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on electrical and mechanical systems.Electrical Expertise : Proficient in reading electrical schematics and blueprints. Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and components.Mechanical Skills : In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment. Proven ability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs and maintenance.Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and other industrial automation systems. Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and logically under pressure.Safety Focus : Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety protocols at all times.Team Player : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and contribute to a positive work environment.Flexibility : Willingness to work on-call, weekends, or overtime as needed to address emergencies or complete critical maintenance tasks.Certifications : Relevant certifications in electrical and mechanical systems or a related field will be advantageous.Pay : $20.00 - $40.00 per hour depending on experience. Plus, an extra $3.00 per hour in monthly bonus incentives based on attendance, safety, and total hours worked.
