Job description

The Team Leader plays an essential role in overseeing group tasks and training our Animal Technicians. They will perform routine and specialized duties as well as assist in operational planning and directing the work of the Technicians.

  • This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and / or years of experience.

The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and / or education level.

Perform all the duties of a technician

Direct day to day workload for dedicated team; offer guidance and support to ensure goals are met.

Teach skills and techniques to new technicians

Ensure that all procedures are conducted in compliance with Animal Welfare regulations, AALAC, Quality documents, health and safety, ISO 9001, and IACUC regulations.

Identification and escalation of issues.

Assure escalation occurs in the event any equipment or procedure deviation.

Oversee and suggest improvements in the work.

Assure daily requirements are met by technicians.

Assure compliance with assigned inventory levels

Assure compliance with meeting reporting deadlines.

Continually monitor, practice and enforce proper biosecurity.

Represent the needs and concerns of employees in their area to the supervisor

Assure compliance with assigned colony levels and production goals

Understanding of results for animal selection for example the project cohort or Retired Breeder stock (where applicable)

Coordinate and oversee the shipment

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

Advanced education in Animal Science or Business preferred

Experience leading a team

1-3 years' experience in Animal Care / PSS

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Excellent attention to detail

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) with willingness and ability to learn company-specific systems and software

Ability to evaluate the work of others in an impartial manner

The ability to maintain confidentiality and to operate with the highest of ethical standards, discretion, and professionalism

Ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks and demands

Physical Requirements :

Ability to shower daily upon arrival and wear company issued uniforms

Ability to wear required PPE

Lift up to 50lbs on occasion

Stand / walk on concrete for at least 2 hours at a time

Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift
