School Counseling

Collaborate with teachers, other support staff, and administrators to meet the needs of students and their familyContributes to the implementation of Stanford Harmony SEL ProgramContributes to and participates in the MTSS Problem Solving Team meetingsDevelops and implements student recognitions as part of the school's Positive Behavior Support ProgramParticipate in team meetings and professional development activities, as directed by the Director of Administrative ServicesProvides program management, system support and accountabilityEstablishes the school counseling program and develops activities and resources to implement and evaluate the programInvolves other school staff in making decisions about the school counseling programProvides individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive and remedial needs of studentsConsults with students, parents, teachers and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of studentsCoordinates all counseling services for students and assists with the coordination and implementation of student services in the schoolAssists and supports teachers with teaching the Guidance CurriculumAccurately interprets test results and other student dataAssists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategiesAdheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession and abides by the laws, policies and procedures that govern schoolsOther responsibilities as assigned by the supervisorHigh School Specific :
Coordinate Career and College Promise (CCP) program if assigned to a high schoolWork in collaboration with the College Liaison to identify, advise, and schedule students regarding CCP opportunitiesWork in collaboration with high school Career Development Coordinators to promote CTE degree options / careers, credentials, and developmentWork in collaboration with the local Community College Director to execute the dual enrollment initiativeProvide career and college advisement to high school students regarding careerpathways
Administer, analyze, and report college placement testingMaintain records for enrollment and trackingProvides program management, system support and accountabilityEngage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and all other stakeholders withinformation sessions related to college successConduct CCP advising sessions on special topics with students, staff, and parentsConduct orientations for CCP students at the beginning of each semester and as new students enrollParticipate in school-related activities in which CCP can be promoted (Parent Nights, grade-level meetings, registration, financial aid events)Coordinate college textbooks with school assistant principal in charge of textbooks : ordering, inventory, collection, fees, loss preventionConsult monthly with college liaison about student attendance and grades. Provideintervention, resources, and strategies for students in need of academic support.
Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the Director of Secondary Partnerships at SCCMaintain quality partnerships with local business and industry leaders to promotecareer readiness among studentsProvide assistance to students during their transition from secondary topostsecondary institutionsCreate a school level Career and College advising team to ensure CCP collegeenrollment goals are met and college pathway materials / instructional supplies are
