Heavy Equipment Transport Driver
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Transport Driver to safely and efficiently transport heavy machinery and equipment across various routes. The ideal candidate will have experience with commercial driving. This role requires a responsible professional capable of handling specialized loads such as heavy machinery, construction equipment, and materials, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles to transport heavy equipment and freight.
- Load and unload equipment using appropriate tools such as forklifts, when necessary.
- Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Completes and maintains daily truck log, accurately and completely. This includes fuel and mileage reports, paperwork, and daily logs (Includes DOT logs), and relevant information regarding pick-ups, deliveries, and transfers
- Accurately manages day to day use and reporting of company provided fuel card
- Reports any unsafe conditions regarding the use of Rents equipment
- Maintains truck is clean and meets professional standards, such as DOT inspections
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Follow all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times and any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of heavy equipment transport experience
- Knowledge of route driving, load & unload procedures, and safety protocols for heavy equipment transport.
- Comfortable using a smartphone for work
- Able to clock in/out and complete inspections on a mobile app
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently.
- Familiarity with forklift operation for loading/unloading when required.
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Excellent navigation skills for route planning and execution.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks related to securing loads and inspecting vehicles.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (NV)
- CDL Class A - Manual Endorsement
- Excellent driving record required (no DUI's, suspensions, or DOT violations)
