Solutions Engineering @ Clay
As the Solutions Engineering team's manager, you will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to contribute to the revenue side while keeping close ties to the product. You're as excited about working on the technical piece of a deal as you are giving product feedback and partnering with EPD to stay up to date on new features or evolving use cases. We are seeking someone who is excited about establishing a robust knowledge management system - transforming our solutions engineering team's expertise into organized, accessible documentation that empowers everyone at Clay to build with confidence!
The Solutions Engineering team is the technical backbone of enterprise deals, helping customers push the limits of what's possible with Clay. The team is also integral in the product feedback and development cycle. Whether it's getting more out of data providers, integrating seamlessly with CRMs, or unlocking new use cases with Claygent, solutions engineering ensures every POC is high-quality, accurate, and built to win. Sitting within the GTM org, Solutions Engineers partner closely with GTM Engineers to field technical questions, troubleshoot complex challenges, and build creative, high-impact solutions that drive revenue.
Impact you'll have
Lead and scale the Solutions Engineering function, including hiring, mentoring, playbooks, and processes
Establish best-in-class demo assets, tooling, and narratives to demonstrate value at scale
Increase win rates and expansion by elevating demos and POCs
Shape go-to-market by partnering with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Enablement to bring solutions expertise into product strategy
Build a culture of systematic knowledge capture that scales our expertise You'll instill a systems-minded approach where your team documents every net-new solution and recurring pattern, creating a technical education flywheel that flows from internal problem-solving to company-wide learning (accessible by our AI tools) to external customer education, ensuring every challenge solved once benefits the entire organization.
What You'll Bring
5+ years as a high-performing Solutions / Sales Engineer OR 5+ years of experience in translatable role (analytics manager, bizops)
Management experience (have managed teams for at least 2 years)
Technical depth in SaaS integrations and platform architecture
A collaborative, organizational mindset with a track record of building scalable teams and processes.
Strong communication & team scaling abilities; proven partnership with Sales, Product, and Marketing
Demonstrated project leadership and a growth mindset in fast-changing environments
High bar for quality of work & attention to detail
Systems minded & prior experience setting a team up to scale
Nice to have : SQL expertise (not used in role but helpful for understanding Clay)
