American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift travel position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and active ACLS / BLS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 20-bed PCU (stepdown) unit within an acute care hospital settingPatient ratio is typically 1 : 3, with a maximum of 1 : 4 if there is medical overflowCare for cardiac, respiratory, ETOH withdrawal, and renal failure patient populationsUse of CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula respiratory equipmentMinimal titration of drips such as Cardizem, heparin, and amiodarone is requiredTelemetry monitoring is used, with monitor techs available and RNs reading strips12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with every other weekend requiredMay float first to ICU or Med / Surg units as neededOn-call required only for low census, with a maximum response time of 45 minutesUses MediTech EMR system; prior experience is recommendedUnit provides orientation through 2 scheduled shiftsRNs deliver specialized nursing care for complex cardiac and respiratory conditions in a fast-paced PCU environmentSupport from charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse aides (night ratio 1 : 11)Scrub requirements : any color / design except purple for tops; any color except purple for pantsHoliday coverage is required for one major and one minor holiday during the assignmentRNs will receive two shifts of unit-specific orientationFirst-time travelers are considered for this positionCandidates may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last yearTravelers must be able to respond to on-call requests within a 45-minute time frame if called in\n \n Requirements\n
