Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift travel position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and active ACLS / BLS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 20-bed PCU (stepdown) unit within an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 : 3, with a maximum of 1 : 4 if there is medical overflow
  • Care for cardiac, respiratory, ETOH withdrawal, and renal failure patient populations
  • Use of CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula respiratory equipment
  • Minimal titration of drips such as Cardizem, heparin, and amiodarone is required
  • Telemetry monitoring is used, with monitor techs available and RNs reading strips
  • 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with every other weekend required
  • May float first to ICU or Med / Surg units as needed
  • On-call required only for low census, with a maximum response time of 45 minutes
  • Uses MediTech EMR system; prior experience is recommended
  • Unit provides orientation through 2 scheduled shifts
  • RNs deliver specialized nursing care for complex cardiac and respiratory conditions in a fast-paced PCU environment
  • Support from charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse aides (night ratio 1 : 11)
  • Scrub requirements : any color / design except purple for tops; any color except purple for pants
  • Holiday coverage is required for one major and one minor holiday during the assignment
  • RNs will receive two shifts of unit-specific orientation
  • First-time travelers are considered for this position
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last year
  • Travelers must be able to respond to on-call requests within a 45-minute time frame if called in
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active RN license for Oregon or Compact (NLC) state license at the time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years' recent acute care experience required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Experience with cardiac and respiratory patient care is required
  • Ability to titrate drips such as Cardizem, heparin, and amiodarone
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Submission requires a copy of driver's license
  • Two professional references : one supervisor from the last 12 months and an additional peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
