Job description

WordPress + WooCommerce Developer (Full-Stack with UX & SEO Focus)

Trail of Adventure is seeking a senior WordPress + WooCommerce Developer to help us maintain, optimize, and expand our website. Our site is already live (Divi + WooCommerce), but we need someone who can handle both advanced development and day-to-day improvements : everything from writing custom code to building optimized landing pages that perform well in Google Ads and SEO.

Responsibilities :

  • Maintain and improve the site : updates, troubleshooting, performance tuning, database cleanup.
  • Develop custom features and functionality beyond off-the-shelf plugins.
  • Build landing pages that convert - fast, mobile-friendly, with SEO in mind.
  • Refine WooCommerce shop structure (categories, filters, checkout flow).
  • Ensure best practices for SEO, security, accessibility, and compliance for paid ads and organic search.
  • Provide proactive recommendations for improving user experience and site performance.

Requirements :

  • An experienced WordPress developer with deep knowledge of WooCommerce and Divi.
  • Comfortable with custom coding (PHP, JS, CSS) and database-level problem-solving.
  • Skilled at both backend development and front-end UX / UI tweaks.
  • Familiar with SEO and Google Ads requirements (fast load, optimized structure, clear calls-to-action).
  • Reliable, communicative, and able to balance quick fixes with long-term improvements.
  • Nice To Have :

  • Experience with Canadian e-commerce compliance (taxes, shipping integrations, policies, Alberta low-risk foods and the Canadian cosmetic policy).
  • A design eye for clean, conversion-friendly layouts.
  • Background in wellness, herbalism, skincare or e-commerce brands.
  • Details :

  • Paid contract position.
  • Remote / work from home, open to candidates anywhere in Canada, although preferred timezones would be PST, MST.
  • Ongoing maintenance + feature development, with flexibility in hours depending on project flow.
  • To apply, please send a short intro, portfolio (highlighting projects where you've done both custom development and landing page / SEO work), and your rates to holly@trailofadventure.com. Mention you saw this at GoodWork.ca.

Trail of Adventure is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
