Weekend Facilities Lead

Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics and the outdoors.

Position Summary:

The Weekend Facilities Lead is responsible for maintenance and custodial needs over the weekend and part of the week. The Weekend Facilities Lead maintains and repairs buildings, systems (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing) to ensure a safe, functional environment, handling daily inspections, work orders, preventive maintenance, event setup and tear down, cleaning dorms or buildings as needed and helps emergency responses. This position oversees vendors on campus and is responsible for decision-making related to their scope of work and the quality of services performed.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responding to service requests, prioritizing tasks, and documenting completed work.
• Ensuring adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and handling fire/security alarm responses.
• Works independently to decide what supplies are needed to complete work orders and purchases them.
• Setting up, breaking down, and resetting spaces for meetings and events.
• Oversees and performs the duties associated with events, including executing the set-up plan in a timely manner, break-downs are completed on schedule with spaces returned to normal state.
• Provides general and detailed maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), including patching, painting, hardware repairs and other repair/replacement work as required.
• Supporting building renovations.
• Assists, or performs solo when needed, general and detailed cleaning of the School’s campus, interior and exterior spaces.
• Specific functions include, but are not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, washing, polishing and dusting floors, carpet, walls, windows, and doors; trash and recycling removal; cleaning restrooms; stairwells, offices and other areas as required.
• Perform snow and ice control operations to ensure safe, accessible, and clear roadways, walkways, and parking lots.
• Operate heavy snow removal equipment such as snowblowers, snowplows, skid steers, and salt spreaders.
• Regular, reliable and in person attendance
• Other duties as assigned

Education, License and Experience Qualifications:

• High School Diploma Required. College degree preferred.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Colorado Driver’s license within 30 days.
• Experience working in a boarding/day school environment is preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
• Physical demands: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk 8 hrs per day and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs;
• Working Relationships: Students, parents, alumni, outside vendors, and all other employees.
• Flexible scheduling. Four 10-hour shifts to include weekends (preferred) will also consider five 8-hour shifts to include weekends.

Salary: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience
