Job Title : RN - Stepdown

Location : New York, NY

Shift : 7AM-730PM | 3x12s

Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Stepdown RN to join our team in New York, NY. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in cardiology, telemetry, and ventricular assist devices (VADs), along with a commitment to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide safe, competent, and quality care based on nursing theory and research.

Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.

Deliver education to patients and families about care plans, transitions, and wellness.

Maintain a focus on rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.

Ensure timely communication and documentation using EPIC (preferred).

Patient Experience :

Incorporate relationship-centered care practices throughout all interactions.

Address patient concerns with empathy and escalate when necessary.

Conduct purposeful hourly rounding and support initiatives like Bedside Shift Report.

Quality & Safety :

Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care.

Participate in performance improvement and peer review initiatives.

Identify safety hazards and escalate per institutional protocols.

Operations :

May perform charge nurse duties.

Monitor supply and staffing needs and escalate as appropriate.

Facilitate patient throughput and efficient shift coordination.

Professional Development :

Participate in shared governance and specialty practice councils.

Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.

Engage in ethical decision-making and evidence-based practice.

Required Qualifications :

• Active NYS RN License
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiology, telemetry, or VAD
• At least 2 years total RN experience
• EPIC experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing may be considered with relevant experience or active BSN enrollment
• 1 year of travel experience preferred (not required for Per Diem roles)
