Te whiwhinga mahi The Opportunity

The Director Programmes, Public and Population Health sits within the Public and Population Health Directorate (P&PH) which has a key relationship with the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand and the Public Health Agency (PHA) within Manatū Hauora.

You will :

  • Lead the P&PH Pae Ora Programmes team, which includes managing a substantial and complex programme of work incorporating multiple interconnected project streams.
  • Influence, guide and support colleagues, leadership and stakeholder groups maintaining relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of, systems and processes, alongside uplifting capability across the organisation.

This role is instrumental in supporting the P&PH Leadership Team to deliver services that transform the system through a Te Ao Māori worldview, and addressing inequities for Māori within the system, whilst ensuring that whānau are enabled to be self-managing in places and spaces that work best for them.

Success in this role will see you bring a good mix of specialist skills and experience not limited to :

  • Experience leading and managing a team of specialists to deliver a complex programme of work, preferably within a Te Ao Māori context
  • Experience in delivering complete work programmes, project plans and team planning, using the programme management lifecycle, to ensure delivery of work on time, and within budget
  • Experience in leading transformational systems change with respect to implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A strong understanding of the legislative foundations for our mahi and the intent of the reforms
  • Commitment to ongoing development in Te Reo Māori alongside of an understanding of the application of mātauranga Māori in the workplace
  • Expertise in Iwi Hapu Marae Māori and community participation & engagement.
