J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is seeking an Assistant Foreman on our steel body line who will support the daily operations of the steel body fabrication and assembly. This role assists the primary foreman in leading production employees, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met, and coordinating workflows to meet production schedules. The assistant foreman will act as a hands-on leader and serve as the primary backup to the foreman.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Other job-related duties may be assigned in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Assist the foreman in supervising and coordinating the daily activities of production employees on the steel body line.
  • Monitor production flow to ensure targets for output, quality, and efficiency are met.
  • Supports and enforces safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Trains and mentors employees in proper manufacturing processes, the use of equipment, and quality standards.
  • Ensure materials, tools, and supplies are available to meet daily production goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects as needed.
  • Step into the foreman role when required to maintain consistent operations.
  • Observes and complies with all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Observes and complies with all safety rules, always including the use of PPE.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to production employees on the steel body line.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Fosters a positive, respectful work environment focused on teamwork and results.
  • Encourages employee engagement and ideas for process improvements.
  • Education and / or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational school preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior leadership or supervision preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for production tracking and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members.
