Job Description

Vital Farms –

Finding the right place to grow your career isn't (over) easy, so we're here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you'll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the "way things have always been done." Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you're into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you'll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we're proud of the diverse communities we serve and the stakeholders who help bring our purpose to life. We're committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where every crew member feels valued. We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.

Your Role :

At Vital Farms, we're on a mission to bring ethical food to the table, and we're looking for a passionate, detail-loving, regulation-respecting rock star to join our Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Team. As our Regulatory Affairs and Technical Services Senior Manager , you'll play a key role in ensuring our food is not only delicious and high-quality, but fully compliant with all relevant regulations—from FDA and USDA to CDFA, organic standards, shell egg laws, and third-party certifications. If you're someone who thrives at the intersection of compliance and care, and you're excited to help us navigate the ever-evolving world of food regulations while staying true to our values, we'd love to meet you!

You're a food safety pro who geeks out over regulations, thrives on precision, and knows that compliance is more than a checkbox—it's a commitment to doing what's right. You stay sharp on evolving standards and regulatory updates, turning complex requirements into clear, practical solutions that help us deliver safe, high-quality food to our customers. You're energized by collaboration—whether it's with internal teams or external certifiers—and you bring strong skills in document control, change management, and technical project support. If it's got structure, rigor, and purpose behind it, you're all in.

What You'll Do :

As the Regulatory Affairs & Technical Services Manager, you'll be the go-to expert for all things compliance—from food labeling and product claims to third-party certifications and regulatory change management. Here's how you'll make an impact :

Regulatory Strategy & Technical Guidance

  • Stay ahead of federal and state regulatory changes (FDA, USDA, CDFA, etc.) and translate them into actionable guidance for internal teams.
  • Serve as the technical expert for regulatory inquiries and food safety compliance across the business.
  • Lead regulatory impact assessments, identifying risks and opportunities tied to innovation and growth.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements during product development, reformulations, and market expansions.
  • Represent Vital Farms in industry groups, regulatory meetings, and discussions with certifying bodies.
  • Deliver internal training and guidance on evolving regulations, compliance best practices, and certification requirements.

Product Claims, Labels & Certifications

  • Own the packaging label review process—including claims, nutrition facts, ingredient statements, allergens, and third-party certifications (e.g., Certified Humane, Organic).
  • Ensure all product claims are substantiated, compliant, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop labeling and compliance strategies that support innovation and transparency.
  • Certifications, Supplier & Program Compliance

  • Oversee compliance for third-party certifications and ensure accurate documentation, renewals, and ongoing program support.
  • Support FSMA initiatives and ensure Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) compliance for imported products and ingredients.
  • Collaborate with FSQA and Procurement teams to uphold high standards for co-manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Documentation, Specifications & Change Management

  • Manage master product specifications, including creation, updates, and version control across all product lines.
  • Lead FSQA documentation processes related to UPC, GS1, and labeling systems.
  • Drive change management for regulatory and FSQA updates across teams and partners.
  • Maintain document control systems to ensure accessibility, accuracy, and audit readiness.
  • Support state permitting and licensing needs across all operational markets.
  • What You Bring to the Table :

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in regulatory affairs, technical services, or food compliance within a food manufacturing environment
  • Advanced certifications or training in regulatory compliance preferred
  • Deep knowledge of food regulations including FDA, USDA, CDFA, FSMA, FSVP, and relevant state requirements. Experience with shell egg regulations and dairy a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to suppliers, co-manufacturers, industry events, internal meeting and events—because sometimes the best collaboration (and compliance!) happens face-to-face
  • A strong grasp of labeling compliance—you know your way around nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and product claims
  • Expertise in managing third-party certifications such as Certified Humane, Organic, and others
  • Experience with document control systems, specification databases, and navigating change management in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with GS1 Global Data Synchronization and managing supplier documentation requirements
  • An eagle eye for detail and a genuine passion for regulatory accuracy and food integrity
  • The ability to translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance—you're just as comfortable in the weeds as you are advising cross-functional teams
  • A change leader at heart—you know how to guide teams through updates and process improvements with clarity, collaboration, and follow-through
  • You're no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh
  • t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else's boots – You seek to understand other's viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don't walk on eggshells – You're not afraid to leave the bullsh
  • t behind and have honest conversations.
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven't yet considered!
  • What We Bring to the Table :

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions : 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Free eggs and butter (yes, really!), along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.
  • At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 . Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.

    Who We Are :

In short, we exist to improve the lives of people, animals, and our planet through food.

    Commitment to Equal Opportunity

To fulfill Vital Farms mission of bringing ethically produced food to the table, we're committed to building teams that reflect diverse perspectives and lived experiences. We believe that when all crew members feel valued and respected, they bring their best ideas forward - fueling innovation, belonging, and shared success. If this role sounds like the right fit for you, we'd love to hear from you! Even if you don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply - you might be exactly what we need!

Shortly after you complete your application, you'll receive a follow-up email elaborating on any potential next steps in our process. If you don't immediately receive said follow-up email, we would highly encourage you to check your spam filter!
