Cad Operator

Compensation: $25–$30/hour + full benefits

Location: In-office position in Taylor, MI 48180 (must work onsite)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with 1-hour lunch. Occasional offsite production visits outside normal business hours.

At PM1, you’ll transform ideas into immersive environments using our proprietary digital library of 3D assets. As an AutoCAD Designer, your AutoCAD and 3D design skills will support everything from client presentations to installer-ready construction drawings.

You’ll work closely with sales, project managers, and production teams to bring complex event visions to life — supporting festivals, political campaigns, pop-up malls, fashion runways, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Create engaging 3D wireframe drawings for live events using PM1’s digital asset library while actively helping build and further develop that library
• Produce detailed internal construction drawings with bills of materials used by PM1 technicians and project managers to execute events on site
• Participate in off-site site surveys as needed

PM1 provides a structured Site Survey Training Program. You will shadow seasoned professionals before ever going solo. Certifications are awarded as you progress: Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional.

• Partner with sales to understand client preferences, equipment needs, and scope
• Assist sales in the PM1 quoting process by providing counts, clarifications, and technical details needed to get quotes out the door
• Participate in production calls to define scope and design direction prior to CAD development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, event coordinators, and designers to ensure smooth execution
• Ensure drawings align with inventory management systems
• Interpret survey data or client files inside AutoCAD, including converting files from other platforms when needed
• Stay current on 3D design tools, industry trends, and PM1’s in-house gear offerings
• Maintain task queues, prioritize daily work, and operate independently
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher preferred in a design-related field. No Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 3+ years of AutoCAD experience in 3D design. College projects, internships, or personal study count
• Must have 3D AutoCAD proficiency. 2D-only skill sets will not be considered
• On-site presence required Monday–Friday in Taylor, MI, with virtual collaboration across PM1 locations
• Willingness to conduct occasional offsite site surveys. Training provided
• Demonstrated ability to multitask, self-manage workload, and prioritize effectively
• Reliable transportation required

Note: Other CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or CATIA do not replace AutoCAD experience for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with inventory systems, CRM platforms, or related design tools
• Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine, 3D Studio Max, Maya, and AI design tools is a plus
• Experience using Google Earth to overlay CAD drawings to scale
