About The Position

Position Summary :

We are seeking a qualified Pathologists’ Assistant to support our pathology department under the supervision of a licensed anatomic pathologist. The ideal candidate will be experienced in grossing specimens and performing autopsies and will play a critical role in preparing specimens for pathological examination and ensuring operational excellence within the lab.

Key Responsibilities :

Prepare gross tissue sections for pathology analysis, including dissecting, describing anatomical features, cutting, staining, and bio-banking.

Conduct human postmortem examinations : perform dissections, external evaluations, and collect tissues / fluids for further examination.

Collect, prepare, and process surgical specimens for histologic and other diagnostic analyses, including frozen sections.

Accession, label, store, and dispose of specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.

Maintain accurate documentation and complete required forms for pathology procedures and reports.

Calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot lab equipment while ensuring proper maintenance and disinfection.

Photograph surgical specimens when assigned and uphold all quality standards in specimen imaging.

Manage inventory, reagents, and laboratory supplies to support uninterrupted operations.

Adhere to lab safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory protocols.

Support continuous improvement by analyzing data and preparing reports on laboratory findings.

Perform additional related duties as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications : Education :

Bachelor's Degree – Required

Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Pathologists’ Assistant issued by NYSED – Required

Experience :

Minimum 1 year experience in grossing specimens and conducting autopsies
