Maintenance Superintendent
Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of the maintenance supervisory personnel in the regular maintenance of facilities and equipment to ensure production departments meet production schedules and goals as well as to effect critical repairs by established priority :
Assigns equipment responsibility to supervisory personnel Ensures daily compliance in all areas of the maintenance activity Communicates and coordinates between shifts Assists or directs supervisory personnel in the provision of training for hourly departmental employees Responsible to manning, repairing and / or emergency breakdowns Evaluates downtime problems, recommends and adopts corrective action when required, ensures adherence to departmental procedures and PMI compliance Communicates goals relating to downtime to supervisory personnel Reviews and ensures updating of PMI's for new and existing equipment Insures that supervisory personnel understand contractual language, documents and applies appropriate disciplinary action for subordinate employees when needed Insures for the optimum utilization of maintenance materials required for repair and regular maintenance in a cost-conscious manner, including requisitions and / or purchasing of specified materials, coordinating installation between shifts and evaluating the application of materials used Evaluates labor usage for efficiency and cost-effectiveness Coordinates the efforts of supervisory personnel, for timely and proper maintenance of facilities and equipment. Coordinates efforts of supervisory personnel to investigate and subsequent corrective actions, PMI's or programs for maintenance problems. Coordinates work required based on Work requests, Condition reports, Machine feedback, and Reliability-based measurements. Ensures that all CMMS expectations are met.
Communicates and coordinates with other departmental superintendents to ensure that the equipment and facilities are serviced according to production requirements and repairs are scheduled in a timely manner
Ensures consistent implementation of departmental procedures by communication with supervisory personnel
Ensures compliance with all safety procedures and practices by monitoring departmental performance, analysis of accidents and injuries, and personal observation :
a. Recommends methods, equipment, and procedures for safety in the maintenance of equipment and correcting or eliminating unsafe operation, unsafe maintenance, and other hazardous or unsafe conditions
Ensures the preparation and evaluation of accurate and complete daily, weekly, monthly, and other records and reports prepared by supervisory personnel
Ensures good housekeeping procedures and practices are enforced at all times by supervisory personnel
Recommends and implements corrective action when needed in the overall operation of maintenance areas within the established budget, and also recommends cost reduction ideas or programs in department areas where abuse or misuse of equipment creates additional costs.
Additional Functions :
Maintain downtime records on major equipment
Maintains all department paperwork and records absentee, vacation, etc.
Formulates maintenance goals and objectives which supplement the company and corporate goals and objectives
Insures enforcement of all mandatory regulations and laws governing employment, wages, hours, working conditions, security, and company policies, rules, and regulations.
