Bridor USA is bringing a brand-new, state-of-the-art industrial bakery to Salt Lake City. As our Automation & Controls Technician, you’ll help stand up automated production and utilities systems from the ground up—then keep them running flawlessly.
Reporting line : You’ll report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Ramp-up & travel : Before the Salt Lake City plant goes fully live (target : early 2026), you’ll receive hands-on training at our North American facilities in Vineland, NJ and Boucherville, Canada, traveling approximately every two weeks.
A day in the life
Your morning might start by reviewing overnight line data and addressing a packaging cell fault. You’ll connect to PLCs, inspect sensor inputs, and use HMIs to validate state changes. Midday, you could be calibrating instruments for a proofing tunnel, then adjusting control logic to improve throughput while maintaining product consistency. In the afternoon, you’ll document changes, coordinate with QA on GMP / SQF implications, and partner with engineering on commissioning a new conveyor section.
What you’ll own
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated systems : PLCs, HMIs, sensors, conveyors, packaging equipment
- Execute preventive maintenance and calibration for control systems and instrumentation
- Diagnose automation-related issues to minimize downtime and support production goals
- Collaborate with Production, QA, and Engineering to meet food safety and operational standards
- Modify / optimize control logic to boost throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product uniformity
- Record system changes, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation with precision
- Ensure alignment with GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA, and related food safety requirements
- Assist with commissioning and integrating new automation technologies and equipment
Qualifications & experience
Degree or technical certification in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field2+ years in industrial automation within food manufacturing or another regulated processing environmentHands-on background with automated packaging lines, robotics, or vision inspection systemsProficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and industrial networkingUnderstanding of food-grade equipment, sanitary design, and CIP (clean-in-place) systemsKnowledge of Mitsubishi, B&R, Tele-Mecanique, Wonderware software, and motor drives (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Lenze, SWE)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manualsSkills & competencies
