SUMMARY OF JOB :
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing basic nursing care and non-professional services under the direction of the Wing Nurse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Give basic nursing care, including bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, nail care, skin care, and shaving.
- Assist residents with dressing / undressing as necessary.
- Make beds and change linens as needed; make sure bed is in a correct and comfortable position.
- Deliver meals and between meal nourishments, assist with feeding as necessary and record meal consumption.
- Monitor and record bowel and bladder function and assist residents as necessary.
- Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
- Assist residents to walk with / without assistive devices, and moving to and from beds or chairs / wheelchairs.
- Take temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures as directed and record as instructed.
- Report any changes in resident's condition to the wing nurse.
- Answer call lights and respond to resident's request in an appropriate manner.
- Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
- Assist with the care of the dying resident and provide post-mortem care as instructed.
- Check residents routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the wing nurse.
- Collect lab specimens as directed by the wing nurse.
- Escort or transport residents from one area to another within the facility for activities, therapies, or other appointments.
- Assist in admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all areas on the nursing unit and the resident's room.
- Assist with resident's personal laundry as needed.
- Notify wing nurse of any resident leaving / missing from floor.
- Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the wing nurse immediately.
- Follow established isolation precautions and procedures.
- Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
- Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
- Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
- Adheres to the Organization's Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Employee has completed annual compliance training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
- Employee abides by the organization's code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Manager or Shift Supervisor, as needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
High School Diploma or equivalencyGraduate of an approved Nursing Assistant program, or be eligible to enter such a program, graduate and pass a state-approved competency evaluation within 120 days.EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
