Description :

Traveler needs to be comfortable caring for oncology patients.

Administration of chemotherapy will not be required.

Holiday requests will be considered but are not guaranteed.

The unit comprises 17 beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 to 5, but may be 1 to 4 if one patient receives chemotherapy.

The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner.

Charge nurses are clinical supervisors who will not take patient assignments but will fill in for break relief.

One nurse aide will be available for 8-hour day shifts.

Weekend requirements are four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule.

Holidays will be scheduled into the permanent staff rotation.

Scrub color is navy.

A teleportable telemetry box is available as needed, and monitor tech is present.

Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry and must pass a dysrhythmia exam.

There is no hospitalist or intensivist on site.

The IV team is available 24 / 7.

Respiratory therapy is not available 24 / 7.

Pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Shifts are 12 hours long, from 6 : 45 PM to 7 : 15 AM.

Floating may occur to telemetry with a ratio of 1 to 4 or between med-surg floors.

There is a floor-specific orientation lasting one shift.

The unit primarily sees oncology patients but may also care for overflow med-surg patients.

This position requires teamwork and travel experience.

The facility maintains a cancellation policy allowing for the cancellation of up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
