Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting on a Med / Surg Float Pool covering Central Resource and Pulmonary Units, including medical-surgical and progressive care beds Care for a diverse patient population with diagnoses such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolism, as well as complex cases requiring oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation monitoring, chest tubes, tracheostomies, postoperative care, and mechanical ventilation Primary nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5 on days and 1 : 5-6 on nights; 1 : 3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC RNs Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, Acudose medication systems, and telemetry monitoring equipment Straight night 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required Float between Med-Surg units as assigned, with travelers prioritized for reassignment Responsibilities include administering IV medications, sedation monitoring for bronchoscopies, and providing care to both stable and critically ill patients Team-based approach with interdisciplinary collaboration involving case managers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and specialty providers Orientation includes validated competencies on telemetry and mechanical ventilation, online modules, and precepted shifts Blue scrubs required for all shifts Holiday and weekend coverage part of regular expectations Past employment with the health system requires a minimum 6-month break before consideration Requirements Active SD or compact RN license Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required) Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience Proficiency in Bipap, Cpap, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and med-surg patient care Experience with mechanical ventilation and respiratory patient care preferred Epic EMR experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625604.
