Summary of Primary Function / General Purpose of Position
The Lead Medical Lab Scientist assists physicians and other specialists by performing all aspects of testing on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids, the results of which can then be used to diagnose and treat patients. In addition, the Lead Medical Lab Scientist participates and assumes responsibility for the daily operations of their section and laboratory.

Licensing / Certification
For BSMH, MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
For RSFH (as of 3 / 27 / 25) if registry-eligible, must achieve certification within 12 months from hire date.
Education
Bachelors, Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Science / Biomedical Science / Biology / Biochemistry
through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)
Work Experience
2 years of clinical lab experience (required)
5 years of clinical lab experience (preferred)
