About the role

The 21CS Graduate Program focuses on the professional development of applicants who have an interest in mainframe software development and who will enjoy the challenge of getting into the nuts and bolts of mainframe hardware and software.

It will be a structured two-year program which provides an intensive learning period at the beginning to understand the basics of the mainframe and its operating system, z / OS. Following that, successful applicants will be put into one of the development teams to continue their education whilst working on actual products. The applicants will be assigned a mentor to guide them through their initial time at 21st Century Software. However, the culture here is one of collaboration and assistance regardless of how experienced you are, whether you have been in IT for 1 year or for 40 years.

The program will give you the opportunity to gain experience on the mainframe operating system, z / OS, with potential roles being Software Engineers, System Programmers, DevOps Engineers, QA Analyst or Technical Writers. Initially you will be learning a brief history of the Mainframe and Mainframe basics to get you started on the platform, before being thrown into a z / OS Assembler bootcamp. We have a culture to help you find the role that best suits where your interests lie.

There will be a 3-month probation period with continuous feedback.

This is a full-time position.

Skills and Experience

Required Skills

• Recent Degree or Diploma in Computer Science
• Experience in several programming languages, preferably C / C++ and Python
• SCM usage experience, such as Git, GitHub
• A passion for programming and testing
