Responsibilities Work in a Med / Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting Night shifts (3x12 hours, 18 : 45-07 : 15) totaling 36 hours per week Patient population includes medical and surgical cases Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6-7 Heparin drips are administered on the unit Use of Pyxis, Epic for charting, and SBAR for communication Floating to similar units or affiliate hospitals is required, often at least once per week Must work every other weekend and cover major holidays as scheduled Assignments range from 13 to 26 weeks Navy scrubs required Unit orientation consists of 24 hours Must be willing to work as part of the Storm Team or Hurricane Team during major events May be consolidated or reassigned to different units as needed during contract No RTO allowed after booking; up to 7 days RTO may be approved if not on holidays Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract period Must not have worked in a permanent, PRN, or EP capacity for this health system within the past 12 months Travel pairs are allowed but must work on different units Candidates within 50 miles are offered at a local rate Completion of required modules and compliance tasks prior to start is mandatory Fatigue policy prohibits travelers from working more than 5 consecutive days or more than 60 hours per week Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at the start of assignment (pending OK for submission) Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience BCLS certification required Experience with heparin and insulin administration Epic charting experience required Must pass an EKG test for this specialty Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 12 months required before start Must be comfortable with floating as described in the job posting Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624584.
