The pay range per hour is $31.25- $32.25. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. The job of Assets Protection (AP) teams is to keep our guests, team and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target including store leaders and law enforcement.
As an AP Executive Intern, you will get a valuable, realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader Assets Protection role (Assistant Store Manager Assets Protection) over a defined period of time. During our summer program, you will work closely with a mentor while learning the AP business area and other team functions within our stores.

- Managing a security culture, including crisis response, a strong safety environment and crowd management planning, providing support to both guests and team members
- Executing strategic AP strategies and goals and delivering results through your team
- Identifying and developing strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehending individuals attempting to cause a loss, in accordance with Target policy
- Conducting internal and external investigations, from identification through resolution
- Recruiting, selecting, retaining, development and talent management of hourly team members and leaders
As an AP Executive Intern, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities :
Taking initiative to learn how to be an AP leader by seeking out opportunities for growth and development; continuously learning throughout the internship experienceProviding new ideas and recommending solutions to business or team opportunitiesCommitting to learning Target's expectations of leaders and using them to personally develop by asking questions and seeking feedbackActively participating in internship program training activities, developmental opportunities and eventsDemonstrating willingness to take risks; stepping out of comfort zone and taking on new assignmentsPartnering with store leaders regarding TM performance by teaching, coaching, training and delivering timely performance feedbackDemonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; leading the team to work in the same way and holding others accountable to this commitmentInfluencing and validating a security culture by driving physical security and safety processes; leading store response and emergency crisis situations and creating plans for in-store eventsEducating store leaders and teams on emergency preparedness and physical security proceduresEducating store leadership on merchandise protection best practice and audit execution in partnership with key partnersIdentifying shortage risks in key areas and working with other leaders to develop tactics that will reduce shortage and drive profitable salesSupporting the identification and resolution of internal investigationsIdentifying theft and shortage trends in your store, and developing proactive strategies to prevent shortage and theftEducating and influencing store teams on operational shortage prioritiesSupporting the prevention (inclusive of merchandise protection budgeting), identification and resolution of external theft incidents and investigationsWorking a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs based on safe and secure and theft patterns (this includes early morning / overnight shifts, evening and weekends)Supporting store safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards in partnership with store leaders, holding team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting / investigating injuries timely and accuratelyOwning safety program management routines such as Monthly Safety Meetings / ObservationsLeading an instore security culture by focusing on deterrence, response and resolution in order to improve physical security processesLeading merchandise protection strategies across the total store; including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practicesDemonstrating inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiencesDemonstrating how to engage with guests when assistance is needed, engage with guests in a welcoming way, and help solve their specific needsWorking in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others; identifying and correcting hazards; complying with all safety policies and best practicesAll other duties based on business needsThis may be the right job for you if :
