Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION :
Under the direction and supervision of the EOPS-CARE Director / Dean of Student Services, or designee, the EOPS-CARE Counselor provides academic, career, personal, and crisis counseling; assesses placement tests; develops educational plans; guides students through basic skills, general education, and transfer coursework; implements an academic progress report and follow-up process; facilitates support for the EOPS-CARE students and collaborates with the implementation of the Student Success and Support Program from a categorical program perspective; and, works closely and collaboratively with the EOPS-CARE Supervisor and staff.

REQUIRED DUTIES :
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS : EOPS Counselors are those persons designated by the community college to serve as academic counselors in the EOPS program and must possess :

EXPERIENCE :
Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to provide EOPS / CARE counseling services to community college students.

Range / Step
Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience).
Salary Range
Steps 1 : $1,377.25 - Step 10 : $2,306.66 per unit.
Benefits Information
PART-TIME (less than .60 FTE) : Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
