The Residential Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the residential department. This position works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure daily living services meet individual patient and family needs. These duties will include supervision, scheduling, preparation of shift assignments, and assigning specific job tasks to members of the residential staff. In addition, the Residential Director will serve as a communication link between the clinical staff and the residential staff in order to ensure continuity in the implementation of the individual treatment plan. The Residential Director will be essential for Shelter in Place events and will uphold the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and client data and information in the performance of assigned duties.

Essential Functions

Major duties and responsibilities include :

1. Work collaboratively with leadership teams on strategic planning and alignment efforts to ensure residential services support overall organizational goals and compliance required.

2. Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, service quality, and resident outcomes across departments.

3. Participate actively in interdisciplinary meetings and case reviews to promote continuity of care and foster a unified approach to resident well-being and satisfaction.

4. Partner with clinical teams to assess and resolve patient or family complaints promptly, ensuring communication transparency and adherence to organizational standards of care.

5. Collaborate closely with Therapy, Nursing, and other interdisciplinary departments to identify and address patient barriers, care coordination challenges, and programmatic concerns in real time.

6. Manage labor costs and ensure efficient residential care is provided at all times.

7. Review processes routinely to find innovative solutions using technology and collaboration.

8. Interview / coordinate process of potential Residential staff.

9. Oversee the development of Residential staff schedules to provide 24-hour coverage and the necessary community-based coverage.

10. Provide direct supervision of residential staff, including documentation and evaluations of performance.

11. Assign specific job tasks to residential staff members based on individual skills and programmatic requirements.

12. Serve as Liaison between clinical staff and residential staff.

13. Provide in-services for residential staff.

14. Provide orientation for new residential staff.

15. Develop and implement policies and procedures for residential staff.

16. Ensures that residential staff have received training and demonstrated skills on the operation of facility equipment.

17. Supervise & provide direct care as needed for patients and orientation for new patients.

18. Direct and / or assist in emergency procedures for fire, evacuation, or medical emergency.

19. Document incidents and submit reports per policy.

20. Guide and assist patients according to their individual treatment plan.

21. Serve as role model to the Residential Staff as well as patients.

22. Attend meetings as appropriate for residential representation.

23. Implement and maintain organizational policies and procedures within their area of concern.

24. Assure medications are appropriately self-administered in accordance with nursing policy and procedures.

25. Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policy, HHSC, CARF, CRS and other accrediting bodies.

26. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include :

1. Ability to organize, train, and supervise the residential staff.

2. Ability to follow and / or implement directions from clinical staff.

3. Ability to communicate accurate and pertinent information to residential staff.

4. Ability to demonstrate flexibility.

5. Knowledge of behavior and needs of the brain injured population.

6. Ability to execute emergency procedures.

7. Hold current CPR within 30 days of hire.

8. Physical strength to assist / transfer patients.

9. Experience in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention after employment.

10. Current Texas driver's license.

11. NCI training must be taken and maintained.

Education

College degree in healthcare required. Prefer brain injury experience or related certification. Must obtain ALF Certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification thereafter.

Experience

Minimum 2 years' experience working with adults with neurological impairments or 2 years' experience working in a residential setting preferably at a management level.

  • Acuity, far - clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
  • Acuity, near - clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
  • Depth perception - three-dimensional vision. The ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are they actually are.
  • Field of vision - the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while the eyes are fixed on a given point.
  • Accommodation - adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye.
