SUMMARY :
The Maintenance Manager in South Bend's Public Works Department is pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the city's water treatment plants. This role involves planning, directing, and overseeing maintenance & operational activities, ensuring that all equipment and systems are functioning optimally. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for supervising maintenance & operational staff, coordinating repair and upkeep tasks, and implementing maintenance schedules. This position requires extensive knowledge of general maintenance practices, water operations, and process controls, as well as the ability to manage resources effectively and foster a collaborative work environment. The Maintenance Manager assures that all maintenance activities comply with EPA and IDEM regulatory standards, contributing to the delivery of safe drinking water to the community. By maintaining the reliability and functionality of the water treatment infrastructure, the Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in preventing disruptions and ensuring continuous operation. Pay Rate : Salary (Exempt) up to $76,609

WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is performed in a standard office setting and in the field. Some exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work and / or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain. The work environment is both formal and informal, team oriented, having variable tasks, with moderate inside temperatures. The entire office is smoke free.
