Senior Transportation Manager - Public Works

Transportation Division Manager

Do you have a P.E. license and senior leadership experience in operational management with Metropolitan Planning? In this role, you manage the daily operations of the Transportation Division with a focus on transportation planning, traffic engineering, bridges / structure engineering, pavement management, advanced traffic management systems, department technology management, roadway design, inspection, and project management. Serve in the key capacity to update County leadership on critical infrastructure impacts and serve as the backup to the Public Works Department Director.

Provide leadership and management to the Transportation Division of Public Works, including planning, personnel, budgets, and general oversight.

Develop short-range and long-range goals related to the group, the County transportation network, and the Comprehensive Plan.

Accountable for overall financial stability and cost containment of the operation.

Develop a positive customer service focus for the group.

Maintains a positive and professional attitude.

Build trust and communicate effectively with the Board of County Commissioners, citizens, citizen groups, advisory committees, developers, and vendors on items related to the Transportation network.

Build effective relationships with the County Administration, the Board of County Commissioners, and other County directors and managers.

Present complex technical matters in a clear professional manner to public and private organizations.

As county liaison, build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Federal Highway Administration, Law Enforcement, and other internal / external stakeholders.

Ensure division compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to established safety procedures.

Work Hours : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 A.M. - 5 : 00 P.M.

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range : $110,000.00 - $132,000.00 annually, based on experience.
