Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Centerless Grinder Operator to join our precision manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding machines to produce high-quality, close-tolerance metal components. The ideal candidate has hands-on machining experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and safety in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate Cincinnati #2 or similar centerless grinding machines to produce precision parts within specified tolerances.
Install and balance grinding and regulating wheels; adjust fixtures, tooling, and feeds to achieve required surface finish and dimensions.
Inspect and measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and maintain production efficiency and quality standards.
Document production data, quality results, and machine maintenance records.
Maintain an organized and clean work area with all required tools, gages, and instructions readily available.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and assist in training junior operators or trainees as needed.
Follow all company safety policies and quality procedures throughout all phases of operation.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3+ years of experience operating centerless grinders in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred.
Working knowledge of machine setup, tooling, and precision measuring equipment.
Basic understanding of mechanical drawings and production specifications.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations related to part dimensions and tolerances.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality parts.
Willingness to work as part of a team and assist with training when needed.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
Physical & Work Environment
Frequent standing, repetitive motion, and manual handling of parts throughout the shift.
Occasional lifting of up to 25–50 lbs.
Exposure to manufacturing noise, lubricants, and metal particles.
Must be comfortable working in a production setting where precision and safety are priorities.
