Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing is looking to hire a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in our manufacturing facility focusing on a hypersonic weapon system. As a part of our Colorado Manufacturing team, you will support critical national defense programs and collaborate closely with teams in Huntsville, AL. Please note that this position will not offer remote work.
In this role, you will oversee and enhance production processes from raw materials to final products, ensuring both efficiency and quality, specifically for our Hypersonic Thermal Protection System (TPS). Your responsibilities will include coordinating with various teams to maintain updated manufacturing bills of materials (mBOMs), developing necessary tooling, documenting lead times, and ensuring work order instructions and floor operation documents are readily available.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement procedures to efficiently convert raw materials into finished products.
Utilize MES software (Solumina) to monitor and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and compliance.
Maintain manufacturing bill of materials (mBOMs) and generate accurate production routings in Solumina.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and actively pursue process enhancements.
Mitigate risks in production processes and maintain effective flow through the MRP system.
Oversee configuration and data management processes to track and manage changes.
Define and document manufacturing procedures and production workflows for assembly, integration, and testing.
Coordinate production workflow, scheduling activities, and resource allocation to achieve production goals.
Address issues related to production jobs, including configuration changes and material shortages.
Manage compliance with ISO9001 / AS9100 processes within the manufacturing department.
Collaborate efficiently with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control teams.
Take proactive measures to expedite production jobs as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Aerospace Engineering , Industrial Engineering , or Industrial Systems Engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Experience in machining processes.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Eight years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and integration related to machining and mechanical components.
Familiarity with MRP systems and ERP / PLM / MES software.
Proficient understanding of GD&T principles.
Experience with ISO9001 / AS9100 standards.
Intermediate proficiency in SolidWorks.
Local candidates must be residents of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate.
U.S. Citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Final Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with manufacturing, assembly, and procedure development.
Skills in composite machining.
Hands-on experience with various assembly processes and machinery.
Familiarity with project scheduling and specific software like Windchill and Solumina MES.
Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
Data analytics and querying experience.
Understanding of PFMEA, capability studies, and Gauge R&R.
Experience with Deltek, Costpoint ERP and MRP, Solumina, and Windchill.
Knowledge of AS6500 manufacturing management programs.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Range :
Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
