Position Overview :

As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and deliver Child Life programming that addresses the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities :

• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events in inpatient pediatric areas.
• Work alongside marketing and public affairs for photography, filming, and interviews.
• Create a strategic plan to alleviate fear and anxiety related to the healthcare environment.
• Prepare patients and families for procedures and healthcare settings through therapeutic play activities.
• Assess children's developmental stages, coping mechanisms, and emotional states.
• Identify and implement strategies to assist families in coping with hospitalization and illness.
• Provide specialized services catered to individual child needs.
• Consult with healthcare professionals on developmental and behavioral issues affecting patient care.
• Keep vital statistics records for Child Life services provided to patients.
• Plan and monitor department budgets and resources effectively.
• Conduct Child Life consultations for children visiting hospitalized patients.

Minimum Qualifications :

Physical Demands :

This position requires lifting and carrying between 40-50 lbs. You will often push or pull patients on beds or stretchers, perform lateral transfers, and exert a push force of 29 lbs. Expect to stand or walk frequently, with potential to cover 8-10 miles during a shift. Patient care providers should be prepared for tasks including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR as necessary.
