About The Position

Description :
Department : Critical Care | RN - Unit : Intensive Care Unit
This unit has a total of 32 beds, with separate areas for different types of critical care patients.
The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2.
Common diagnoses include CABG, CVA, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral brain hemorrhage, GI bleeds, DKA, STEMI, septic shock, overdose, respiratory failure, neurosurgery, and open-heart surgery.
Travelers do not need prior experience with CRRT, ECMO, or balloon pumps.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable or set rate drips include dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, cardene, nitroglycerin, neo, vasopressin, diltiazem, insulin, and esmolol.
There is a charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take an assignment.
There is a resource nurse available on each unit.
Certified Nursing Assistants are present on the unit, with ratios of 1 : 8 during the day and 1-1.5 at night.
Both hospitalists and intensivists are in-house.
Respiratory Therapy is available 24 / 7, with a minimum of two staff members in each ICU.
Registered Nurses are responsible for monitoring and reading their own strips with Spacelabs equipment.
Shifts are organized to accommodate staffing needs and attempts are made to meet scheduling requests for night shifts.
Every other weekend is required.
Holiday shifts may be required based on staffing needs.
There is no standby or call requirement.
Floating to other ICUs may occur as necessary.
There is no specific dress code for scrubs.
Each staff member will undergo unit-specific orientation during their assignment.
