- Position Overview
Lidu Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated
- Preschool Classroom Teacher
- to join our team. This role is responsible for creating a warm, safe, and engaging environment where toddlers (ages 3-6) can explore, learn, and grow. The teacher will develop age-appropriate activities that promote early developmental milestones, including language acquisition, motor skills, socialization, and emotional development. This position will also integrate Assyrian language and culture into the classroom in a fun and accessible way for toddlers.
- Key Responsibilities
- Social-Emotional and Behavioral Development
- Use simple techniques like deep breathing and emotion cards to help children recognize and manage their feelings
- Guide children in making friends, resolving conflicts, and playing cooperatively with peers
- Set clear expectations and use positive reinforcement to promote good behavior
- Communication with Families
- Provide families with regular updates on their childs progress through newsletters, emails, or daily reports
- Encourage open dialogue by welcoming parents to share concerns, ask questions, and provide feedback
- Share positive stories and achievements about the child, not just concerns, to build trust and strong relationships
- Collaborative Teamwork
- Ensure each team member knows their duties and how they contribute to the teams goals
- Provide an environment where team members feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and giving feedback
- Encourage team members to help each other, share resources, and celebrate successes together
- Health and Safety
- Maintain regular cleaning, sanitize toys, and ensure all equipment is in good condition.
- Conduct regular fire drills, practice emergency procedures, and keep first aid supplies accessible.
- Observe children for signs of illness, encourage good hygiene practices, and communicate health policies to families
- Qualifications
- Required
- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a teacher or caregiver in a preschoolers or early childhood setting
- Demonstrated experience working with young children in an educational setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education
- Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with children, families, and professional staff
- Proven ability to manage classroom environments while fostering positive behavior
- Familiarity with literacy instruction methods is strongly preferred
- Experience in physical education is considered an asset but is not required
- Certification in Adult, Child and Baby First Aid and CPR
- Preferred
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting is essential
- Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Spoken fluency in Assyrian is required. Reading and writing skills are a plus; support can be provided if needed.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
- Ability to sit on the floor and engage with toddlers for extended periods
- Ability to operate classroom equipment (toys, learning materials, etc.) and office equipment (copier, fax, scanner, phone, computer)
- Extended periods of time on the phone, typing, and reading on a computer screen
