Nurse

Department: Medical

Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract

Location: Global

Reporting To: Senior Nurse

Description

We are hiring nurses to join Carnival's fleet of North American brands, including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, and Seabourn.

Nurses primarily provide individualized care to guests and crew in outpatient, inpatient, and intensive care settings. They act as first responders, triaging emergency calls, assessing and treating patients on-site, and transferring them to the shipboard medical center for definitive care. Through specific patient group directives, nurses can practice autonomously under the authority of doctors, assessing patients and providing treatment and advice for particular conditions. In addition to their first response duties, they work closely with other medical practitioners in caring for patients and attending daily walk-in clinics.

Nurses also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the medical center's efficient and safe operation under the direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse. Additional duties include conducting equipment checks, managing medication and clinical consumable inventories, participating in drills, audits, and inspections, as well as training other crew members. Technical skills are learned and practiced on board, including X-ray acquisition and performing a wide range of laboratory tests and other procedures.

All medical staff provide a high level of customer service, maintaining a professional, dignified, friendly, assertive, and polite demeanor at all times towards guests and fellow crew members, and demonstrating performance consistent with the organization's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.

Successful candidates will be assigned to work four-month contracts onboard our fleet of cruise ships operating worldwide, with two-month intermissions.

IMPORTANT: please download the Procedural Skills List PDF file listed on the documents section of this page before clicking apply. You will need it in the next step before submitting your application.
