American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for an acute care assignment requiring AZ or compact license, BLS and ACLS certification, and strong critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care ICU setting within a hospitalAssignment covers ICU, CVICU, COVID, MS ICU, and PCU beds under the Critical Care service linePatient ratios are 1 : 1-2 in ICU based on acuity and staffing, 1 : 3-4 in PCUCommon patient types include post-surgical, cardiovascular, neuro, COVID, sepsis, ARF, DKA, post-MI, cardiac surgery, Impella, TAVR, VAD devices, STEMI, detox, and CRRTNurses titrate all critical care drips including pressors, paralytics, sedation, anti-arrhythmics, heparin, argatrobanRequired to read their own EKG / tele strips using Nihon Khoden monitorsUses Cerner for chartingDay shifts, 12 hours each, with four weekend shifts per pay periodSchedule made four weeks in advance, some self-scheduling permitted, no block schedulingExpected to float within critical care areas including PCU, MST, EC ICU / PCU as neededMay be placed on call for low census, typically 1 time in 6 weeksNo nurse aids on the unit; Intensivists and NPs in-house 24 / 7 on West campusProfessional scrubs required (any color, navy starting October except camo)Responsibilities include managing a diverse acuity ICU population and handling fresh open heart patients with appropriate experienceMust interpret ABGs and support complex device and equipment managementTeam supported by charge nurses and house supervisor with dedicated rapid response / code blue coverageOrientation includes 8 hours of general orientation plus unit support shiftsWill be required to cover at least one winter holiday and the eve of anotherSterile technique for Foley and central line dressing is tested on first day of orientationMay not have been a full-time, part-time, or PRN employee of CommonSpirit / CHI / Dignity in the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facilityFirst schedule will be filling in scheduling gaps; trades allowed but not guaranteed\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required and must be in handMinimum of 2 years' current ICU experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing with two attempts allowedStrong EKG interpretation skills requiredExperience with weaning and troubleshooting mechanical ventilation is requiredPreferred experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRTExperience with EVDs, chest tubes, art lines, Swans, and post-open heart patients preferredAbility to titrate a wide range of critical care dripsMust provide two professional references per specific guidelines\n Benefits\n
