Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Intensive Care Unit Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum of 2 years required License : Valid Nursing License required Certifications : ACLS, BLS (AHA only), NIHSS required Must-Have : - Experience with the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Experience with multi-system organ failure - Experience with post-cardiac surgery care (not directly from the OR) - Proficiency in IV insulin protocols - Experience with GI surgery - Experience with chronic / acute renal failure - Skills in accessing ports and arterial line management - Competence in blood product administration - Knowledge of central line care and management - Ability to manage PICC lines - Skills in starting IVs - Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration - Ability to titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive drips - Knowledge of CVA / acute stroke management - Ability to assist with external ventricular drains (EVD) - Familiarity with hypothermia protocol / Arctic Sun - Experience with ICP monitoring - Skills in post-neurosurgery management - Experience with traumatic brain injury - Ability to assist with the management of BiPAP and CPAP - Skills in assisting with chest tube insertion and removal - Competence in caring for ventilated patients - Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Skills in suctioning (endotracheal tube, nasotracheal) - Experience with ventilator management - Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions - Skills in phlebotomy - Experience with surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs Description : This position requires a registered nurse specialized in intensive care unit nursing. The nurse will provide critical care to adult and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include monitoring patients with multiple organ system failures and other critical conditions.
