A dynamic opportunity exists for a Substitute Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver school-based health services, providing compassionate and competent care to students in emergency, chronic and routine health situations. Under direction of the school health services coordinator, this role ensures student well-being so that teachers and staff can focus on instruction.
Responsibilities / Duties :
Provide first-aid, emergency care and medication administration in accordance with district protocols and state nursing scope.
Monitor students with chronic health conditions, carry out individualized health plans, and collaborate with families and health providers.
Perform screenings, document health incidents, maintain health office records, and update student health files.
Assist in health education, hygiene promotion and wellness interventions, as directed.
Support health-promoting environments by consulting with staff on infection control, safety, and health-related referrals.
Travel between campus sites as needed for substitute coverage and maintain confidentiality of all student health information.
Qualifications / Desired Experience :
Valid Washington State RN license in good standing.
Prior nursing experience in school, pediatric, community, or acute settings preferred.
Strong independent judgment, excellent communication skills with children and adults, and flexibility in variable health-care settings.
Knowledge of state school health rules and medication administration protocols a plus.
Completion of Washington State fingerprint background clearance required.
Reliable transportation, ability to adapt quickly to different school sites and schedules.
