Transload and Spotter Technician
The Transload and Spotter Technician is responsible for spotting rail cars and trailers for both inbound / outbound shipments. Processing and unloading inbound railcars as well as loading outbound sugar / oil trailers via Transload. They will also perform inventory management practices, verifying and recording material handling transactions, while following all safety and quality procedures and proficiently operating all material handling equipment including spotter truck, forklift and railcar mover. The Transload Spotter Technician must also possess a great deal of flexibility in their ability to multi-task and maintain a positive, team attitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate the railcar mover to stage full / empty rail cars for unloading or pick-up
Unload oil / sugar railcars through completion of load maintaining consistent flow of both ingredients to feed both RC Plant and Watertown facilities
Drive the spotter semi-tractor and spot box trucks, oil tankers, sugar wagons and bulk outbound loads etc. for RC Plant, RC Transload and RC Cartage facilities
Unload bulk sugar and oil trucks through completion of load
Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments
Move ingredients / finished materials using the electronic inventory management system, to achieve proper first expired-first out (FEFO) / product rotation procedures
Load and unload inbound / outbound trailers and tankers, completing the necessary inspection forms and HACCP requirements
Receive, inspect, sample, tag, and route all incoming materials
Pick, pack, load, and prepare orders for shipping
Complete paperwork and log information accurately (Bill of Ladings (BOL's), inbound / outbound orders, ProForma's, etc.)
Interact with rail road company, truck drivers, customers, and other CQC departments
Perform cleaning activities as needed
Provide superior customer service
Cover for other employees while on break / lunch and vacation / absences
Operate forklift, railcar mover, spotter semi-tractor and other material handling equipment and drive personal vehicle for work
Designated employees may be approved to operate the CQC van and therefore, must have an acceptable driving record
Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures
Maintain regular attendance at work, and work overtime as needed
Other Experience and Qualifications
Education / Experience :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of industrial warehouse experience required, which includes forklift operation, Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience, and shipping and / or receiving experience
Experience operating railcar mover and spotter truck preferred
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
CDL Class A preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft D365, Plant Control Systems, and Label Management would be helpful
