We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and motivated Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated team. We are a general dental practice committed to providing exceptional oral healthcare in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
About the Role :
The Dental Hygienist will play a crucial role in our practice by providing comprehensive prophylactic and therapeutic dental hygiene services. This individual will be responsible for educating patients on optimal oral hygiene practices, conducting thorough oral assessments, and collaborating with the dental team to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
Responsibilities :
Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including medical and dental history review, oral cancer screenings, periodontal charting, and dental charting.
Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation as permitted by state regulations and practice protocols.
Perform scaling and root planning procedures (both manual and ultrasonic) to remove plaque, calculus, and stains.
Apply topical fluoride treatments, sealants, and desensitizing agents.
Take digital dental radiographs.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
Provide post-operative instructions and care recommendations.
Document all findings, treatments, and patient education accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Assist the dentist with examinations and procedures as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked operatory.
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient flow and a positive patient experience.
Participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices and advancements in dental hygiene.
Qualifications :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
Current and active Dental Hygienist license in the state of NJ.
Current BLS / CPR certification.
3 years of experience as a dental hygienist preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency with Eaglesoft software and digital radiography is preferred but not necessary .
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
